Cozy Games for Switching Your Brain Off
Some evenings you don't want to be good at anything. You just want something gentle to do with your hands while your mind unwinds. Mobile is brilliant for this, and cozy games are the heart of it.
Skybloom Village is my go-to lately. Tending crops and decorating little floating islands scratches an itch that has nothing to do with winning. There's no fail state, no timer breathing down your neck.
Hollowreach is a different flavor of calm — exploratory and moody rather than busy. With headphones on it becomes almost meditative. It's less about doing and more about noticing.
What these games share is low stakes and low battery drain, which makes them perfect bedtime companions. You can play for ten minutes or an hour and feel equally fine stopping.
My only warning: cozy sims can quietly eat your evenings. 'Just one more harvest' is a trap older than mobile gaming itself.
